Profile

This cutting-edge boutique showcases jewelry, handbags, and apparel from owner Donatella Quintavalle and a slew of local designers. Quintavalle opened the shop with business partner Enrico Ciotti (also the owner of V Bar) in April 2009, strewing the shelves with skinny jeans, resin and cast-metal jewelry, and leather and denim handbags from her own eponymous line. The narrow space has a definitive East Village feel; exposed-brick walls contrast with vases of flowers and a chandelier overhead. Quintavalle hand-picks the rotating roster of around a dozen designers, including sculptural silk and banana fiber hats by Tattered Gossamer, shapely dresses by Outlaws of the Border and Heike Jarick, jewelry from Cult of Tara, and couture gowns by Sumie Tachibana. Racks in the back of the shop bear rare, well-preserved vintage items that Quintavalle sources from a dealer in Massachusetts—recent finds include a one-of-a-kind Gucci blouse for $500.
