Since developing the famous two-tone slingback for Chanel, this luxury shoe and handbag designer has continued to update classic footwear with modern touches that never compromise the original's integrity. The detailing on Mancini's shoes, from colorful straps to bejeweled buttons, is about accenting, not overhauling. At his spacious Park Avenue store with its beige carpeting, cream walls and small pale wood cubbies, the shoes and sometimes matching purses are allowed to speak for themselves. While the store does sell loafers and ballet flats, Mancini's high-end pumps and other staggering heels are decidedly fashion first, comfort second.
