Profile

This venue is closed.

The ecoconscious clothing and furniture designer unveiled his second store in 2008, located on the same burgeoning strip of Bowery as the rock-inspired Varvatos outpost. Taking the place of the historic Bouwerie Lane Theatre, the boutique’s all-black floor, walls, and ceiling contrast with the ornate white molding of the exterior, where the original signage remains. The space was decorated entirely by Rogan himself, featuring his own black splattered paintings, and leather chairs and shelving units from the Rogan Objects furniture line. Overhead, black stage lights are encircled by a curtain of cords, evoking a darkened chandelier. Unlike the original Tribeca lair, this location offers store-exclusive merchandise, like textured button-downs shirts, graphic tees, and limited edition denim. In the age of it-brand jeans, Rogan's denim line is purposely unadorned, with no exterior branding, embellishments, or showy stitching. Instead, the focus here is on simple silhouettes and rich fabrics, like cream-colored cupro dresses, Peruvian-made organic cotton tees, rayon tops, and coils of skinny leather belts. The menswear sticks to a palette of gray, black, and white, while women's racks display flashes of pink. Accessories include in-house items—leather bags and elbow-length fingerless gloves—as well as outside brands, like Laco’s Swiss watches and Kershaw pocketknives.
