Profile

This venue is closed.

Tucked into the ground floor of a Battery Park City condo complex, Samantha's is a compact, refreshingly old-school Italian deli and gourmet store; legs of prosciutto and massive hunks of cheese hang from the ceiling, and large jars of olives and peppers crown a case of prepared foods. Though the store caters mainly to locals, it’s still close enough to the office towers of lower Manhattan to be a lunchtime draw. Midday, lines form at a counter near the front door for steaming hot focaccia pizzas and Stromboli wraps; at another station, toward the back, hungry shoppers order shrimp marinara or chicken topped with tomato bruschetta, all made in the store’s upstairs kitchen. For those planning their own feast, Samantha's offers a better-than-basic variety of imported sausages, olive oils, cheeses, and tomato pastes, and a refrigerator near the front holds store-made vodka, meat, and calamari sauces. The deli also caters parties and meetings, with a range of prepared foods or hearty six-foot subs crafted to a customer’s order.

Delivery and Catering

Local delivery is available from State St. to Chambers St. (west of Broadway) and to Maiden Lane between Water St. and South End Ave. Larger catering orders can be delivered as far as midtown.
