Williamsburg-born and bred Cono Savino runs this family shop with his parents Frank and Josephine, who hail from Salerno. They supply restaurants and gourmet stores with their daily homemade pastas, but also do a lively retail business in this largely Italian area. Among the storefront's specialties are linguine, manicotti, stuffed shells, and cheese tortellini. The big-selling ravioli is sold frozen, two sheets of 15 to a box, with plain ricotta filling, or combinations with spinach, shrimp, lobster, earthy porcini mushroom or a bright roasted red pepper. Josephine makes the vodka cream and flavorful marinara sauces, and high-end jarred varieties are stocked on the shelves, along with other pantry goods like Italian coffees, olive oils, beans, capers and Italian tuna, plus flour and anisette flavoring for baking. You can buy sausage, mozzarella and Parmesan at the counter, and for the finishing touch of Italian bread, a number of bakeries are just two blocks away on Metropolitan and Graham Avenues.
