Out front, a bright red awning—written in a mix of Italian and Latin—invites pedestrians on this busy Broadway block to stop in and “seize the shoe of the day.” Seemingly guided by a compassion for overworked feet and a determination not to sacrifice style, the store inside is stocked with brands like Camper, Audley, and Gentle Souls, which combine comfort with a smart sense of design and craftsmanship. Flats, pumps, and boots with roomy toes and low (or at least sturdy) heels form most of the line-up, but there’s more here than shoes. Half of the store is devoted to a trend-conscious array of handbags, from slim evening clutches to slouchy leather shoulder bags and roomy canvas totes, as well as a smattering of accessories, like earrings and watches. Extra-late hours—until 10 p.m. six days a week and until 8 p.m. on Sunday—thoughtfully accommodate those feet that have a lot of running around to do.Sales
