Seeking escape from their corporate lives and a garage for their moped gang, Mission 23, New England natives Peter D’Addeo and Ari Sneider established Second Stroke to cater to their motor-pedaling brethren (chalked behind the register is a polite note saying the store doesn’t serve dirt bikes, scooters, or electric bikes). The pair opened their spot in Bushwick in March 2011 as New York City’s only moped-specific retail and repair shop. Along with a healthy selection of bikes, performance parts, maintenance materials, and safety equipment, the guys are more than happy to share their passion—there are more than 60 mopeds to be viewed out back, and the pair is willing to teach novices how to (safely) ride as well.
