Plaza Hotel
|
This Plaza Hotel annex of the Elizabeth Street boutique draws men seeking custom-made, slim-profile suits. Glass-walled and sparely furnished, the shop has just a few racks displaying sample garments: solid-colored or striped shirts in light pastels, and pinstripe, herringbone, and plaid suits in charcoals and tans. In the rear of the store is a triptych of mirrors for clients being measured for custom-made apparel. Seize can create a custom suit of Italian wool or an Egyptian cotton shirt, with options for collar, cuffs, buttons, thread color, and pleating. The made-to-measure clothes are assembled in Italy, with refinements completed in the store's downtown location. The Plaza shop also carries accessories like Alfred Sargent shoes, as well as gloves, wallets, and scarves produced under the Seize sur Vingt label.
Hipsters swear by Seize Sur Vingt’s specialty: crisp, tailored clothing in a spectrum of colors. For formal weddings, grooms can get ready-to-wear suits (from $1,200), made-to-measure designs (from $2,600), or one of four custom tuxedos (from $3,200).
