Profile
This enthusiast’s shop, with an unpretentious staff, will put you on the frame that fits you best (it specializes in custom-fitting women). It has the largest selection of racing bikes in the city, along with high-end road and mountain bikes. We like the selection of Moots and the aluminum-carbon Cannondale Six13.

I live very local to Sids, and purchased my bike at Sids as well. In the 6 months since purchasing my bike, I have used Sids as my source for all my biking needs. Not only are the staff condascending, they are very unhelpful, and oftentimes extremely rude. In addition, before a race, I brought my bike in to be tuned, and when I got ready for my race, I saw that my computer was not working.
The last straw was what happened this past weekend. I had them pack my bike to take to Florida for a triathlon, and when I opened the box, my bike wasn't in there. Just plain horrible.
I really wanted to find a good local bike shop and really wanted Sids to be the one. I've been patronizing them for a while and after a while, I realize they're overpriced and have a lackadaisical attitude towards customers, never mind repeat customers who purchase expensive services (the bread and butter of any LBS). After screwing up one to many times, I'm moving on. Hopefully you'll benefit from my experience and stay away. There's plenty of other shops in NYC.
