Profile

With its mossy green walls and crocheted accessories, the granny-style at this boutique seems almost cloying until you come across a lamé-and-leather skirt or some daringly bright flats. The magic at Sodafine is in the mix— from vintage-inspired to mild-mod—and its celebration of local designers. Philadelphia native Erin Weckerle is responsible for the mélange, and she and the store (named after a song “by a band that no one’s heard of”) have been in Brooklyn since 2004. Her boutique has since become a destination for design-conscious dressers looking to buy local and support ecofriendly. Note cards, bags, and jewelry abound, but the standouts are on the racks: Feral Childe tops and skirts are sold in chaotic patterns, cotton Talla blouses are cleverly cut, and Melissa footwear is an offbeat homage to South Beach.
