The Masullo brothers—Paul, Steve, and Vic—opened this downtown mainstay in 1978, twenty years after their father had opened a liquor store just one block south. According to Vic, dad's (now-closed) shop catered to immigrants and factory workers by stocking gallons of wine and half-pints of whiskey that loners would "take off into the sunset." Today, tasting czar Steve has shifted the focus of the inventory to include reasonably priced wines, single-malt scotches and a whole wall of champagne for the now-upscale neighborhood's resident party types.
