With its racks of pre-faded retro T’s and its funky décor, Stackhouse feels like a smaller version of Urban Outfitters. But unlike that clothing chain, Stackhouse has separate shops for each gender. At the men’s branch, hand-painted skateboards hang from the walls above shelves piled high with sweatshirts, quirky belts, and even a few fedoras. Down the block at the women’s location, unique accessories like embroidered leather purses and soft, multi-colored Moroccan slippers outshine most of the clothes, although T’s blasting a single word like TOMATO or COFFEE catch the eye. Lest you think that Stackhouse caters strictly to co-eds, a few pint-sized sweaters and baby booties are tucked away in a corner for oh-so-trendy toddlers.  Maybe someone getting her bachelor’s isn’t a bachelorette after all. — Allison Blum
