This charmingly quirky design shop is a total mom-and-pop operation: Owner Theo Stewart-Stand designs some of the collection himself while his wife, brother, and father help manage and supply the business. The store’s most-publicized product may be its flexible steel-screen wallet, which protects credit cards against identity-thieving scanners. Most of the items, though, are more focused on fun than protection; some, like the banana-shaped rubber pot-handle holder, aspire to both. Local designers produce the colanders converted to wall clocks and the custom eight-channel amp constructed from wired-together vacuum tubes. And the impressive combination plastic-bag-holder and garbage can is designed by Pratt graduate Kevin McElroy. A green streak runs through the entire collection, from the canvas totes to the oblong wall-mounted bike-holders to the reusable rubber cups that collapse into compact, coaster-sized containers.
