Stuart & Wright inhabits a beautifully renovated mid-century garment cleaners in Fort Greene, a fitting locale to sell their old-meets-new fashion collection. Owners Alec Stuart and Celeste Wright and construct aesthetic hints of blue-collar functionality into their clothing that’s simultaneously delicate and stylish. For the men, it’s rugged animal prints from Rogues Gallery, deconstructed Chimala tees, stiff denim, and clean Spring Court tennis shoes. For ladies, it’s work blouses with feminine lines, Cheap Monday, and A.P.C. jeans, and swinging cocktail dresses from local designers like Mina Stone and Lyell. The store’s spacious, ash-wood interior (designed by Brooklyn-based architect Ole Sondresen) inspires the casual browse. Anchor pendants inspire the casual purchase. — Christopher James Richter
