The owner of this cozy Park Slope shop donates a portion of her net profits twice a year to the animal-rescue groups Best Friends and Farm Sanctuary — hence the name Sweet Charity. While the store does carry a few doggie bowls, it’s actually an outpost of handmade gifts and home goods for those on two legs, not four. Brightly hued Eigan Arts pottery, pillows, travel bags, baby clothes, picture frames, and scented candles overflow from the baskets and shelves on either side of the small space, which resembles a long, crowded hallway. Locally made items are the most fun, though like sock puppets from former Martha Stewart Living editor Kelli Ronci, SUM Design serving trays, and Eau de Brooklyn soap (created by a local neurologist and his daughter) make for quirky, memorable presents.
