The co-founders of this well-curated vintage shop hail from Italy and Greece, and the wares reflect the pair’s Mediterranean-meets-California sensibility. The seventies-influenced offerings include high-waisted pants, washed-out denim, worn-in plaid button-downs, and an array of tan leather boots and sandals in neat rows along the exposed brick walls. The unified collection focuses on dressed-down seventies style, and the small, simply decorated space is mercifully free of groovy florals and loud disco prints. A Sweet Tater house line consists mainly of flowing tunics, like a quilted cap-sleeve style in soft Indian gauze, wool Buffalo check and houndstooth designs, and summery silk hooded versions in pale plaid, as well as oversize leather totes. But it’s the impressive selection of stacked heel boots from Italy, Spain, and Brazil (most between $100 to $200) that attracts shoppers like Sofia Coppola and Kirsten Dunst. Though they’re coy about their sources, the owners divulge that they scout apparel on trips home to southern Europe, guided by in-the-know aunts.
