At the Tanagro gallery, each select piece of jewelry rests in its own gently lit wooden display case. Singular presentation is the showroom’s way of underscoring that these creations by the father-son team of Pietro and Antonio DiBenedetto are indeed one-of-a-kind. As you might expect, such an approach can be time consuming. The cornice necklace took Antonio seven months to complete (six of those months spent just finding the matching pink sapphires). Equally lustrous are the intricate Argini wedding rings whose two parallel rows of pavé diamonds frame a central line of the same stone in alternate cuts and the $300,000 Rugiada bracelet which translates in Italian as “morning dew.” Padded red leather walls may make you feel as though you too are on display, but if you’re looking for high-end jewelry then this is definitely the appropriate setting.
Long popular among celebrities, but also accessible to the masses, Tanagro opened its midtown retail store two years ago. Its elegant Bridal Collection features round, brilliant-cut diamond rings that are set in platinum (from $1,800).
