Profile
Former TSE designer Tess Giberson’s store in the heart of Soho is far from showy. Her formula is simple: a small, yet strong selection of sleek, minimally-designed clothing combined with eye-catching, creative touches. Like many of the nearby art galleries, the store’s décor includes exposed brick, shiny wood floors, and an ample amount of natural light; there’s also a rotating selection of art pieces from the designer’s friends and husband, artist Jon Widman. Against the mostly bare backdrop, the clothing is displayed on wrought-iron rolling racks that run along the space’s perimeter. Here, one can find an abundance of luxurious fabrics carefully constructed into high-end, wearable pieces like expertly-tailored trousers, silky-smooth leather jackets, draped knit dresses, and cozy cashmere sweaters. The designer’s strong connection to the art world is also evident in the selection of limited-edition art books and catalogs on offer, along with gallery-worthy jewelry pieces by designer Ninh Wysocan.
