This offshoot of Pottery Barn Kids carries baby gifts and clothing up to size 2 (about 24 months). As part of the larger Williams-Sonoma company, Threads opened up on the Upper East Side in November 2007, two weeks after its sister shop in Washington State. The large, country-style store is organized by its collections, which run the preppy gamut from nautical to safari to tropical themes. Cuddly fine-gauge knits, soft onesies, and microfleece blankets are ready to be monogrammed at a sewing station set up in the store’s center. Diaper bags, plush toys, and Belli Baby toiletries make for simple, ready-made gifts for showers. Shoppers often stop by Threads to pick up a quick gift on their way to visit newborns at nearby Lenox Hill and Columbia-Presbyterian hospitals. And local moms pop in regularly for the little bucket hats, simple polo shirts, and wooden toys for girls and boys.
