Special Features

  • Tailoring In-Store

Brooklyn native Nailah Lymus is a sartorialist-of-all-trades. This single store, which is no small space, houses her sewing studio, a photography studio, and a boutique. The white walls of the store are covered in photos that tie the space together, offering visuals for how some of the bold clothes hanging on the racks in front are actually made. The best-selling five-in-one wrap dresses that can be fashioned into different styles like sweetheart and halter are Nailah’s own design (they’re made of nylon for summer and of a cashmere and wool blend for winter), but twelve different New York–based designers are represented as well. In spite of the diversity of offerings, the wares, many of which come in bright fuchsias, limes, and cobalts, feel surprisingly cohesive and unified. The cuts are poppy too, and the patterns and designs often reflect a global influence or cultural tradition of sorts. Shoes are well-heeled without being dangerous, jewelry is enough to jazz up an outfit without overpowering it, and the selection of men’s T-shirts in the back have a growing fan base.
