You can’t miss the subway theme at this sneaker and streetwear store, since shoppers—mostly teens, tourists, and students from nearby NYU—must pass through turnstiles to enter. The store’s main platform is packed with clothes from popular urban wear brands like Enyce, Sean John, and Rocawear. Baggy jeans and XL sports jerseys for gangsta imitators and baby tanks and snug sweatpants for aspiring Mariahs dominate the racks and stacks. Also on this level are more than 500 men’s shoes from more than twenty manufacturers, including underground favorites like Fred Perry; something is always on sale, often at substantial a discount. At the back of the store, an actual subway car acts as a display case for women’s sneakers, with everywhere brands like Puma and harder-to-find labels like Lacoste as passengers. North Face outerwear, Timberland boots, and a broad selection of backpacks occupy the lower level. The cashiers—in a token booth upstairs—take all major forms of payment, but not Metrocards.
