Authentic Moroccan arts and crafts line every inch of this warm, intimate shop decked out in deep reds, bright oranges, and cool blues. Owner Khalil Hafdy imports all the store’s products from various regions of Morocco, and the wide range of Mediterranean décor puts his taste on full display. Customers entering have to duck to avoid dangling hand-dyed silk scarves as well as dozens of light fixtures with stained-glass paneling, and vibrantly colored rugs—in maroon, pink, blue, and every color in between—cover the walls. There are also end tables with subtle tiled mosaic patterns and shelves lined with brass tea kettles and meticulously painted pottery, all marked with handwritten (and reasonable) price tags. In a second room, leather ottomans and several fuchsia furniture sets offer shoppers a spot to rest or consider a purchase of one of the store’s many handmade hookah pipes.
