Ariane Goldman has created the bridesmaid dress version of the magical Travelling Pants—just two sizes fit nearly every body flatteringly, without alterations. She started her West Village boutique based on the dress that she crafted for her own bridesmaids, which morphs into 15 when the straps are twisted, stretched, and draped into a halter, one-shoulder, cap-sleeve, strapless, and, well, 11 more styles. Bridal parties are greeted by Goldman in the cozy, classic New York apartment-style space for their appointment, shown the collection, and then have a chance to try on dresses and accessories in what usually turns into a wedding-themed gab-fest. Goldman now has shops in London, Los Angeles, and Sydney, Australia, and for the non-New York based brides-to-be she’ll even ship a sample dress or fabric swatch with a pre-paid box for return shipping. The line has now branched into variations with chiffon rosettes bordering or covering two lengths of skirt in more than 10 colors. Twobirds also does matching 100% Italian silk groomsmen ties, wraps, flower girl dresses, and even Spanx-esque tube tops for extra support under dresses.
