Valley’s white-walled space is inspired as much by its fast-paced downtown location as it is by its namesake SoCal region. The clothes are your usual below–14th Street uniform: slouchy jeans, designer handbags, heels, moccasins, and swanky T-shirts by Grey Ant and Kain. But Valley’s customers are treated to more than just a standard selection of garments. Waxing rooms—for authentic Brazilian hard waxes—and nail stations are attractive alternatives to browsing through upscale sweatpants and trendy dresses. Two couches against the wall and a coffee table full of magazines give shoppers the added option of lounging—with an antioxidant-packed smoothie made with Acai berries if they like. Although situated on a slightly dingy corner, Valley’s unassuming little-of-this-little-of-that approach makes for a fittingly quirky addition to Orchard Street. — Melissa Noble
