What first started as a store for sneaker fiends has since blossomed into something more. Now teenage guys to men in their mid forties flock to Vault for their fix of hip, urban apparel. Staying true to its name, the store features a giant steel vault-styled lock near the entrance and the hole of the would-be vault serves as a pathway exposing the customer to the shop’s extensive inventory. Though sneakers and shoes are still sold in this Harlem boutique, the main draw now are the tees and fitted caps on the shelves, available in multiple color schemes and attention-grabbing designs. Vault features clothing from more than one hundred brands (including their own T-shirts, which feature the tagline ‘Makin Cash Money’). Among the most popular are: Pink+Dolphin, 10Deep, and BBC, an acronym for Billionaire Boys Club, a brand owned by Jay-Z. Best of all, shoppers needn’t worry about walking down the street and seeing five other people in their new favorite T-shirt—Vault only sells one of every shirt in each size, from small up to 3X.
