Venus by Maria Tash
Nearby Subway Stops
6 at Bleecker St.
Maria Tash opened this body-jewelry store in the spring of 2004, more than a decade after launching her original Lower East Side piercing and tattooing outpost, Venus Modern Body Arts. The space is modern and sparsely adorned, acting as a blank slate for the glittering range of jewelry. Though Tash’s collections include necklaces, earrings, finger rings, and nostril rings, she is best known for her dangling navel jewelry decked with topaz, garnet, opal, and diamonds. The trinkets incorporate precious and semiprecious stones, fourteen-karat gold, and platinum in the shapes of butterflies, flowers, fleur-de-lis, and crowns. Navel rings start at around $40 for simple implant-grade steel, and can top $14,000 for eighteen-karat-gold and diamond versions. Tash also specializes in custom jewelry, building body adornments from scratch at various price points.Piercing
The Broadway location offers piercing in one of their two private rooms upstairs, where clients can pierce anything from the nipple to the tongue.
