Visiting Versani can feel like taking a walk through a movie set for an unreleased film called "Desert Oasis Fantasy." At the Mercer St. store, Mosaic tile floors, elaborate metal candelabras, hanging tapestries, and stained glass windows lend a colorful, Moroccan paradisiacal mood to the heaps of thick silver bracelets, braided gold necklaces, and bangles and rings laden with precious and semiprecious stones. The store has two main rooms for its glittering wares, and a shrine that displays the in-house (and heavily scented) candles. Besides adornments made with traditional materials, Versani’s also offers offbeat creations like denim-and-silver pendants and snakeskin-and-silver bracelets.
