With a jumble of dusty stemware, old champagne boxes, and sun-bleached posters in its front window, this small wine-and-liquor store nearly blends in with the proverbial woodwork. The narrow interior is equally nondescript, with beige linoleum floors, sipper bottles by the cash register, and a sticker reading, “I [heart] Jugs.” The prominent price stickers on the floor-to-ceiling shelves reveal the shop’s driving force. These trumpet relatively inexpensive prices for familiar wines, like Ravenswood chardonnay for $10.99. Got a friend who’s a southpaw? Snag him the Mollydooker shiraz—the name is Australian slang for “lefty.” The wines are loosely organized by origin; you might see a costly Côte-Rôtie next to a thirtysomething-dollar Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Still, you have to wonder how much they suffer from the less-than-ideal storage conditions.

One case of wine (mixed or plain) is discounted 10%; purchases of two or more cases get 15% off.
