Vince opened its first stand-alone store in New York in February 2009, bringing work-friendly basics and luscious cashmere pieces to the West Village. Founders Christopher LaPolice and Rea Laccone channeled their two existing Los Angeles stores in the design of the East Coast shop, envisioning a minimal space inspired by nature: live grass sprouts from the cash-register counter, while walnutwood paneling decks the walls. Though the stock skews heavily towards womenswear, about a quarter of the space is reserved for men’s apparel.
