This gussied up streetwear brand for men and women attempts to elevate the genre beyond graphic T-shirts and jeans. Founded by a group of avid skateboarders and snowboarders in Sweden, WESC (short for We are the Superlative Conspiracy) now has stores in more than twenty countries. Subscribing to the notion that maturing skaters eventually graduate from the jeans-and-T-shirt phase, the brand hypes what it calls “life after skate,” a tailored, colorful collection of sweaters, zip-ups, and casual button-downs for men and breezy tanks and dresses for women. In the relatively unchartered territory of fashion-forward street style, WESC’s button-downs for men include bias-cut details, chest embroidery, and a tailored bottom hem; cardigans come in colors like marshmallow, celery green, Turkish tile, or chili pepper. The best seller is the line of Japanese selvedge denim jeans, available in four cuts and a spectrum of washes for both sexes. In the winter, the collection expands to include fitted blazers, military coats, and quilted jackets; summer months usher in an assortment of swimwear and board shorts.Headphones
In 2007, WESC teamed up with a group of well-known D.J.s — most notably Steve Aoeki — to design a line of colorful, high-quality WESC headphones, available for purchase at the store.
