Profile

William Wayne & Company—an interiors accessory shop named after its two owners—offers style-savvy options that appeal to, well, just about everyone. The majority of the trinkets here fly below the $100 priceline: you’ll find decoupage trays for half that, as well as a rotating inventory of enameled ceramic ashtrays, straw placemats, Caspari napkins and matching rattan boxes, all amidst a breezy, cool vibe. The store has been around since 1989, and its goal, according to co-owner William Meyer, is to offer people a way to update their homes in an affordable way. “Accessories are an easy way to do that,” he says. A second uptown outpost on Lexington Avenue caters to decorators and their Upper East Side clients; accordingly, it stocks a larger up-market inventory (botanical prints, jungle inspired chandeliers, mirrored mosaic sconces and an impressive selection of first edition design books). The theme at both locations is decidedly traditional, but even the modern-minded won’t leave empty-handed. And those who hate wrapping (and waiting) will be thrilled to find that most gifts are available pre-wrapped in William-Wayne’s green-and-white signature print.
