Profile
Yigal Azrouël’s meatpacking location housed the designer’s more experimental designs for ten years, but the brand’s signature ultrafeminine looks have always had a strong following among the Upper East Side crowd, so it’s only fitting that they made the move uptown. The Madison Avenue spot maintains Azrouël’s edge with leather-lined racks of clothing, a concrete exterior, and exposed piping along the walls that offset the brand’s modern designs and glitzy bags. Azrouël’s 900-square-foot boutique curates a tight selection of draped dresses, silk blouses, and expert blazers for women, as well as some select knits and jackets for men. The designer’s best works involve mixed texture knits, shrunken leather jackets, and effortlessly styled jersey dresses, complemented by gold statement bracelets from Made Her Think and roughly minimalist necklaces of precious stones. And while the store may not stock the entire current collection, there’s always the brand’s more casual little sister, Cut25, a short jaunt away in Soho.
