In 2006, after splitting from pastry chef Mikael Martin (with whom she co-ran Delices de Paris), Rosana Rosa opened this quaint spot down the block. Set just outside the entrance to the Seventh Avenue F train, the 220-square-foot, yellow storefront offers roughly 30 types of baked good despite its narrow confines. Much that’s in stock is made in the French baking style that Rosa learned from her former husband. Throughout, she shares his emphasis on high-grade ingredients whether she’s making mousse or muffins, tarts or giant cookies. For something more substantial and less sweet, Zana also offers panini and (mostly Italian) sandwiches. In a weird twist of fate, Rosa found such success with Zana that she ended up buying Delices de Paris back from her former partner.
