A ruffly, piñata-like sculpture hangs from the ceiling of this single-room boutique, looking like a toy that the bikini-clad mannequins—Barbie-doll figures with exemplary stomachs and necks sliced off at lipstick angles—play with after hours. Yet, this is not just a swimwear store, it’s a collection for life in beach city, with equal emphasis on bathing suits as on cover-ups and ready-to-wear staples ideal for a warm climate. Designed by Sidney, Australia–based Nicky Zimmermann, the line includes pajama-esque suits in paisley-patterned silk along with draped dresses and chiffon skirts covered in bright patterns of birds and flowers. On the opposite side of the room is the swimwear—bandeaus, halter tops, strappy bikinis, and one-pieces, all of which have some kind of texture, be it a twisted, crimped sash, a layer of gauze, or a single fabric broken up into quiltlike sections. There’s also a selection of shoes, handbags, and jewelry, and bargain hunters can seek out annual sales at the end of summer and fall.
