Profile

Most weeks, this burlesque act sticks to the professionals: Dottie Lux, Lady Satan, and Cherry Bomb. But once a month, the schmaltzy and stout polyester suit-wearing drag king Murray Hill and his scantily-clad assistant Miss Allison take over to host a strip tease contest that begins with a song and dance routine by the reigning champ then ends with audience members screaming loudly for their favorite contender. When one month’s winner, Miss Molotov Cock Tease, lost a pastie during her vaudevillian tribute to Hitchcock, the amateurism may have become more pronounced, but the crowd went wild. Whatever the act, the audience is an equal mix of men and women craning their necks to see schoolgirls, geishas, ninjas, and pig-tailed bimbos twirling umbrellas, bumping, shimmying, and peeling off gloves and corsets. As Hill himself is quick to note, “This is a safe space for objectifying women.” But it’s also a space where the women call the shots.
