| Performed in three parts, the schedule for The Orphans' Home Cycle varies a great deal. Please see the official schedule for performance dates, including marathon sessions of all three parts. | |

By the time of his death in March, Horton Foote was considered a major American playwright, but his final work is far grander than anything we saw during his lifetime. The Orphans’ Home Cycle is a behemoth, made up of nine plays presented in three triptychs (on a variety of schedules, including marathons that go straight through its nine hours). Tracing one man’s 26-year odyssey from displaced youth to family patriarch, the play attempts to answer the basic question: “Why does life happen the way it does?”
Finian’s Rainbow
This marvelous, slightly unhinged revival succeeds because it refuses to wink at the material or treat it as quaint.
The Understudy
Theresa Rebeck’s warm backstage comedy features a thoroughly excellent trio, but the heart of the show is Julie White’s performance.
