SUSAN

Susan has very strict rules about New York life and New York loving. "There is a different "breed" of men in New York City from those in Long Island. Even though it's easier to "bag a man" in Long Island, once you've had a taste of men in the city, there's no turning back. It's a long-distance relationship once you have to cross a bridge to get to someone." Furthermore, when it comes to "the reach" for the check at the end of a first date, it is a must that a man pay - Susan says women should reach for their wallet but never really with any conviction- especially if it's with a guy she likes. "If he just stands there and lets me pay for the first date with no worthy excuse then he is finished!" The only occasion when Susan is happy to pick up the tab is when a date is going badly and she has no interest in the guy from the start. "Then all I want to do is pay the check and get the hell out of there!" Like every other woman dating in Manhattan she feels she has a shelf life, and would like to be married or close to it before she passes her sell by date- "I think a woman once told me that you have a better chance of being struck by lightening than meeting a quality man in New York City when you're over 35."
