As good as Knocked Up is, it’s a perfect candidate for Curvedom; in fact, we’ve recently heard people saying, “I don’t see what all the fuss is about.” (Translate that into Latin—Quem originem commotionis non discerno—and the Curve has itself a motto.) Granted, most of these people (a) are well outside the raunchy-sex-comedy demographic and (b) went expecting some miraculous hybrid of Animal House and Annie Hall. Meanwhile, the Coen brothers tantalize with a perfectly cast thriller, Live Free or Die Hard starts looking good to popcorn-movie-starved fans, and HBO follows up a controversial Sopranos finale with a confounding surf drama and a deadpan hipster sitcom. Maybe it is TV after all.
