Excited for summer movies yet? We’re talking, of course, about the summer movies of 2011—trailers for which (Super 8) are already in theaters, ensuring that your excitement will peak and wane sometime this fall. Meanwhile, back in 2010, Christopher Nolan’s Inception stands as this summer’s last best hope. Sex and the City 2 was DOA, at least until aughts nostalgia kicked in. As hype builds for Conan on TV, Conan at Radio City turned out to be a buzzkill. Brady Udall’s The Lonely Polygamist, a 600-page Mormon-family-saga novel, is actually selling (especially in Utah). And speaking of dysfunction, the formerly beloved Real Housewives of New Jersey are suddenly being treated like the Garden State’s newest toxic waste.
