It’s the season of high temperatures and low hopes, when anything more than complimentary air-conditioning is probably too much to expect at the multiplex (your $18 ticket to Prometheus won’t pay for a sense-making screenplay, alas). In this humidity, the Curve is kinder to those who keep cool at home: Louie and Breaking Bad look set for backlash-free returns, and by all accounts, Richard Ford’s new novel matches the hype. So if you can’t stand the heat, you might not be disappointed.
