NEW YORK VIEW
Fans of Reverend Billy and Adbusters should hurry to this wry, darkly comic anti-consumerist stunt, filmed by students Filip Remunda and Vit Klusak. The two launch the fake brand Czech Dream with a wild flurry of vague ads promising happiness through low consumption. But when the frenzied shoppers flock to the store's opening in Prague, all they find is an empty, fake storefront.
CINEMASOURCE SYNOPSIS The Czech Republic's growing pains in regards to its relatively recently acquired capitalist system is highlighted by this study of two film students who use their state grant to promote the opening of an entirely fictitious supermarket in an empty field - and film the hoopla surrounding the "opening".
