Marci Klein Kidnapping

When: February 2, 1977

The facts: Marci Klein, the 11-year-old daughter of designer Calvin Klein and his first wife, Jayne, is abducted on her way to Dalton. The same day, Klein drops off $100,000 ransom in the lobby of the Pan Am building and Marci is returned. Her baby-sitter, Paule Ransay; Ransay's half-brother, Dominique; and Dominique's friend Cecil Wiggins are arrested February 4.

Yeah right: Ransay preposterously claims she was Klein's lover and that he orchestrated the kidnapping as a publicity stunt to coincide with the launch of a new clothing-and-perfume line.
