Life
after AmEx: After retiring from AmEx this year
at age 61, Golub joined the boards of now bankrupt
Warnaco and of the CueCat-like tech company AirClic,
in January. He also took a senior adviser post at
investment bank Lazard, according to American
Banker.
Not one to hang around: Golub told Business
Week: "The dynamic of having the old CEO
hang around in order to be helpful to the new CEO
is almost always nonsense.... The old CEO ought
to go away, and if the new CEO has a question, he
can call him or have lunch with him."
Demand exceeds supply: Golub told the Wall
Street Journal that over the year 2000, he turned
down job offers from Internet firms at a rate of
two or three per week.
