The Look Gathered, draped construction; rich textures. The label made a big impression last season with elegant drapery and fitted corduroy jackets.

Where to Get It Bergdorf Goodman

Career Trajectory Winning this year's Perry Ellis Award for new talent from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in June was just one more step forward for design duo Nicole Noselli and Daphne Gutierrez. Like Benjamin Cho, Bruce has won backing from Shiseido, which financed the 30-year-old New Jerseyites' fall show last February. Fashionistas will have a hard time getting into this year's show as a result: Bruce's admirers are so hardcore that journalists have been moved more than once to call them a "cult."

What You Don't Know Curious about the label name's origin? Get used to it: "We will never tell anyone what the real meaning of 'Bruce' is," Gutierrez says. "It's much more interesting to see what people think it means."

What the Editors Say
Hint, Melissa de la Cruz: "They could be the Helmut Lang of their American generation...Very flattering. They're women designers and they're making things that [are not just for] only skinny clotheshanger women."

Elle, Abigail Greenberg: "Bruce sells at [major stores]. They're fantastic, they're already established. It's selling."
