Trajectory Winning this year's Perry
Ellis Award for new talent from the Council of
Fashion Designers of America in June was just
one more step forward for design duo Nicole Noselli
and Daphne Gutierrez. Like Benjamin Cho, Bruce
has won backing from Shiseido, which financed
the 30-year-old New Jerseyites' fall show last
February. Fashionistas will have a hard time getting
into this year's show as a result: Bruce's admirers
are so hardcore that journalists have been moved
more than once to call them a "cult."

name's origin? Get used to it: "We will never
tell anyone what the real meaning of 'Bruce' is,"
Gutierrez says. "It's much more interesting to
see what people think it means."
