JFK: JetBlue’s new, $800 million terminal is scheduled to open in late 2008, with 26 gates capable of handling 500 flights a day and up to 20 million passengers annually. Delta plans to spend up to $1 billion to refurbish its aging Terminals 2 and 3—or to knock them down and start over again.
EWR: Newark’s main international terminal, Terminal B, is in the midst of a $280 million overhaul in order to accommodate more ticket counters and screening checkpoints. The Port Authority is conducting a $20 million study of Terminal A to determine a course of action for future renovations.
LGA: A study is under way to determine how best to add more concourses to the central terminal and how to upgrade the gates to handle larger aircraft like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
