The big loser when Jeffrey Sebelia won Project Runway wasn’t Laura Bennett (who’d accused him of cheating) but rather his girlfriend Melanie Vesey’s Soho subletter. Almost a decade ago, Vesey sublet her apartment to move to L.A. But with Runway’s $100,000 in hand, Sebelia needs a home base in New York, so the subletter’s getting the boot. “It’s, like, this $700 apartment,” he said at the show’s finale party last week at the Tribeca Grand. “I don’t even remember what street it’s on.” Sebelia, who founded the casual fashion label Cosa Nostra, says he’s hoping to find a local partner to do his more ambitious Runway looks. Meanwhile, runner-up Uli Herzner says she’s broke and husband-shopping. “I want to have kids, and a house on the water. A man who’s funny, tall, and has money to invest in my line,” she said. “But—quote me on this—I will work for the money!” Contestant Malan Breton was passing out invites to the opening of his shop next month. And Tim Gunn? “People keep asking me when I’m going to leave Parsons, but what Bravo pays me could fit in a small piggy bank!” he said. “Parsons pays the bills.”
