Recent press reports have Madonna scouring the East Sixties for a mansion with Brown Harris Stevens’s Wendy Maitland, but a source says she’s considering going over the border line to Chelsea. She’s eyeing spaces at architect-of-the-moment Annabelle Selldorf’s 520 West Chelsea and 200 Eleventh Avenue, where an elevator whisks residents straight to their apartments while they’re in their cars—certainly better cover from the paparazzi than the townhouses she’s been touring. But another source familiar with her search says, “It’s highly unlikely. She loves Central Park too much.” Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, has her doubts as well. “I believe she’s looking on the Upper East Side,” she says.
