There’s only so much nonsense Sean Lennon can take. A U.K. tabloid recently claimed that the singer, who headlines Irving Plaza April 13, just made up with his half-brother, Julian, thereby annoying his mother, Yoko Ono. Hogwash, he says: “I’ve known Julian my whole life! He taught me how to play guitar. He lived with us at the Dakota! And that my mom would control whether Julian and I were having dinner is just buying into that idea that she’s somehow this weird high priestess of evil.” Otherwise, things are going good: His just-completed European tour supporting his album Friendly Fire sold out most everywhere, except Croatia. “I don’t know what went wrong,” he says. “All the interviews were asking me, ‘How do you feel about your mom breaking up the Beatles?’ And I was just like, ‘How do you feel about being a total idiot?’ ” So, um, anything to say about his mom’s blackmailing chauffeur? “It’s been resolved. And, well, that’s not really why I do interviews, to get into gossip about criminal employees. I’m promoting my show. The rest just seems so boring.”
