Celebrity chef Gray Kunz, who earned four stars at Lespinasse in the nineties and six months ago opened the lounge-cum-restaurant Grayz on West 54th Street, may shutter his high-profile Café Gray in the Time Warner Center. And sources close to the situation say that the Center’s developer, the Related Companies, may fill the space with a branch of three-star A Voce. “I know that my partners have been having discussions with Related about their projects,” says A Voce chef Andrew Carmellini, who confirmed that he is looking for a second Manhattan location. Kunz would be the second four-star chef to abandon the Time Warner Center’s high-end food court; Jean-Georges Vongerichten closed V Steakhouse at the end of 2005, after less than two years. A spokeswoman for Kunz would only say, “I know that there are rumors, but we are happy here. I don’t have any more information for you at this point.”
