Andy Roddick played Wii tennis with Bloomingdale’s customers on March 24 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Lacoste, but his other adventures in retail haven’t always been winners. “We just released a fragrance that we’ve sold nine bottles of,” he said. “Wait, is it ten? Did we sell another one today?” he deadpanned. “It’s huge. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it.” The cologne is called Andy Roddick—“We paid a huge creative team for that name”—and yes, he wears it. But then, he admits, he might not be the right guy from whom to take fashion and grooming tips. “I wore a neon visor for a while,” he recalled. “I’m not really proud of that.”
